Katherine Sykes Warren Obituary

Katherine Kearney Sykes Warren

August 1, 1982 - May 8, 2025

Lake Arrowhead, California - Katherine Kearney Sykes Warren, 42, passed away on May 8, 2025 at her home in Lake Arrowhead, California after a five year battle with cancer.

Born on August 1, 1982 Katherine (known to many as Kate) was a graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School's Humanities and International Studies Program (Class of 2000). She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sonoma State University in 2004.

Kate was a devoted Fire Wife and full-time stay at home mom who poured her heart into her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Russell Warren; their children, James and Willa Warren; her parents, Douglas and Nancy Sykes; her brother Jeremy Sykes, her sister Tara (Antonio) Cunha; her nieces Ella Sykes and Zoe Jensen DeGaetano; her mother in law Deanette Warren; Russell's grandmother Dolly Warren and brother in laws Jeff (Amy) Jensen and Ronald Warren as well as a multitude of beloved other family and friends.

Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. As a young woman, she was active in the youth group at Fremont Presbyterian Church. In recent years, she found community and spiritual connection as an active member of Sandals Church in Lake Arrowhead.

Kate's enthusiasm for life was matched only by the warmth she shared with those around her. Her outgoing nature and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A Celebration of Life service was held on June 7, 2025, at Sandals Church in Lake Arrowhead to honor Kate's memory and the joy she brought to so many.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

We will always love "Pretty Kate".

Despite living far away from Pretty Kate for most of my life, she was a consistent force of support and kindness in a way that made me always think of her as human sunshine. When I got married last year, we traveled to Monterey to have a small ceremony for the sake of legal processes before the wedding. Pretty Kate, Uncle Russ, and the kids made the journey north to see us, and it meant the world to me for my husband Mike to meet her, and for her to make it to my special day, making it even more special. I shared a photo of my mom, Kricki, and Pretty Kate helping me zip up my dress from that day. I love that photo because these three women have all been huge role models to me since longer than I can remember. I´m so sorry for everyone´s loss because I know just how positively impactful Pretty Kate can be in even a single day.
