Keith Day Obituary

Keith Day
July 12, 1940 - July 22, 2021
Sacramento, California - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Keith Alan Day. He died on July 22, 2021, at age 81, in the Kaiser Hospital Sacramento.
Keith is survived by his wife, Lydia Day, his siblings and life long pinochle partners Carol Alton, Douglas Day, and Diane Hitchens (Rick), and his half sister Jan Mooty. Additionally he is survived by his daughters Monique Woods (Jack), Michele Kish, and his stepchildren Ashley Gibbs and John Erwin, and his most beloved grand children Jennifer, Ashley, Emily, Dalton, and Hunter. He will also be sorely missed by his many loving nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by both of his parents Clarence Day and Ruth Day (Johnston), his brothers in law Dale Alton and Joe Mooty, and his nephew Douglas Day JR.
Keith was born and raised in the Detroit area. In high school, he enjoyed playing both the tuba and football, at which he excelled until a knee injury took him out of the game.
As a young man, Keith held many jobs from movie usher to milk man. As a young adult, he joined the S.S. Kresge Company, for whom, he would work his entire career. When S.S. Kresge later became The K-Mart Corporation, he eagerly volunteered to open the west. He transferred throughout the west living in Colorado, and both Southern and Northern California. He eventually retired out of the Kmart in Vallejo CA in the early 90's.
After his retirement, Keith traveled extensively. If he had always wanted to see it, odds are good that he did. Keith loved to golf. While the game never really loved him back, he played often, until he was unable.
Keith was a man of many words and few filters, luckily he had both the wit and charm to pull that off. It was one of his most endearing qualities. He kept his patriotism separate from his politics. He firmly believed that he lived in the best country in the world. Keith will be remembered as a wise, humorous, adventurous, kind, and generous man by his friends and family. He will be sorely and eternally missed.
