Kelly Larvie Obituary

Kelly Anne Larvie

November 2, 1969 - November 20, 2023

Auburn, California - Kelly Anne Larvie, 54, a long-time resident of Auburn, California died at home on November 20, 2023. Kelly was born in Provo, Utah at the Utah Valley Hospital on November 2, 1969, the fifth and last child of Francis Carl and Anne Elizabeth (Kelly) Larvie. Recalling her mother's Irish roots, Kelly's reddish blond hair and green eyes marked her as the family favorite. She spent her infancy in towns ranging in size from Eureka, Utah to Houston, Texas, but she attended school through 9th grade in Casper, Wyoming. After high school, she set out for Western Washington University. She took a break from her studies to reside with her sister Veronica's family as they transitioned from Wyoming to Washington, DC. After a year on the east coast, Kelly returned to the state of Washington and to her studies. She finally settled in central California, where she served as an environmental geospatial research analyst in the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, specializing in wildfire prediction and management. Kelly loved adventure and travel, and she was passionate about the environment. She adored dogs and was an avid mountain-biker; she frequently rode the trails around Sacramento and Auburn. In 2004 her mother preceded her in death. She is survived by her father, Francis Carl Larvie; by her eldest brother, Francis John Larvie (Virginie Cybèle Deniau) and his two sons, Marc and Christian; by her eldest sister, Veronica Larvie (Tom Rinehart) and her three sons, Jackson, Charles, and Alec Rinehart; and by her two other brothers Mykol (Kazue Takahashi) and Sean Patrick Larvie. St. Clare Catholic Church of Rocklin will perform a brief liturgical ceremony followed by committal TBD. Friends and family have offered a Triduum of Holy Masses and 30 days of Gregorian Masses by the Servants of Charity and the Pious Union of St. Joseph in Grass Lakes, MI, and a Mass and prayers from the Salesian Community of New Rochelle, NY. Support for any of these good, pious, and charitable organizations is always welcome.

Kelly holds a special place in my heart! In summer 2014 Kelly rescued a black puppy trying to cross a very busy street in Sacramento. She took him to a vet, she helped him recover from starvation and took great care of him and back to good health. Kelly posted a picture of this darling dog in a pet store in Tahoe City (Lake Tahoe) where I lived and was seeking a dog to adopt as I had just lost my husband. That evening I drove down to Sacramento with my "Tahoe Dave´s" jacket on. Kelly opened door and saw my jacket and said " I know someone who works at Tahoe Dave´s" I asked who it was? Kelly replied "Guy".
I was stunned as that was my husband and that day I met Kelly would have been Guy´s birthday. I told Kelly I didn´t care what dog looked like as I just wanted to adopt any dog who Kelly rescued. It was meant to be for Kelly and I to meet that day. It will 10 years this coming October 8, 2024 that I was so blessed to meet and know Kelly. I´m so glad we stayed in touch and she came to dinner at my house a few years ago. Kelly had a huge heart and loved her dogs! I texted her last fall to tell her I moved to Utah and did not hear back, which was not like Kelly. I was devastated today to see her Facebook page and my heart is breaking that this world lost such a wonderful person. Scooter and I will be forever be grateful for Kelly making our lives so wonderful.
Love you Kelly!!

Kelly was a dear friend, more like family. Holly and I spent a lot of time with her. Kelly was very intelligent and talented, and a very interesting person. She was a very caring and loyal friend. You alstill be here in our hearts.ways knew where you stood with Kelly. I'm fortunate, the last time I saw her, we walked down along the Mokelumne River in the outdoors where she was most at home. Kelly will always still be here in our hearts.
