Kenneth Warren Obituary

WARREN, Kenneth D.

Kenneth Donald Warren, of Wilton, Calif., passed away after a brave five year battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. He was born in San Pedro, Calif., on October 18, 1941. Survived by wife, Jean Warren; sons Greg and Nancy Warren, Kelly Warren, and Timothy and Elke Warren, and daughter Janita and Jeffrey Cookson; grandchildren Jessica Warren, Travis and Tiffany Warren, Hannah and Jacob Warren, Caleigh and Carter Cookson; parents Dorothy and Richard Thorsen; sister Judy and Tom Roberts; brother James and Tracy Thorsen. Ken was preceded in death last year by his brother Dennis Warren. It meant so much to Ken that all his children and grandchildren remained located in the Wilton/Sacramento Area.

Being born to an Army family, Ken was well traveled in his youth to various locations in the U.S. and Japan. His family settled in Harbor City, Calif., where Ken attended Narbonne Junior High School and High School. In January 1960, Ken entered the Air Force, serving in Korea and Castle AFB, Merced. In 1962 he married Jean, who he had met at age 13 in school. After completing his service, Ken and Jean relocated to Concord, Calif., where he started his career in real estate sales. In 1968, the family moved to Sacramento, where Ken attended school in hopes of a new career. But after two years he returned to his first love, the real estate community. Jean found a run down chicken ranch in Wilton. In 1970, she moved the city husband and kids to the country. Ken's home in Wilton became his second love.

Ken became employed by Safeco Title Company in 1973, broadening his field to title/escrow. In 1978, he was a co-founder of Sacramento Title Company. He served in various capacities and was President for ten years until the company was sold in 1999. He continued working in the Title Industry and retired from Commonwealth Land Title in 2004. Ken loved his work in the real estate community, treasuring the friendships with his clients, co-workers, and other professionals in this field. Because of the caring staff at the Kaiser South Oncology Dept and UCSF Cancer Center, Ken and Jean were able to travel in their Motorhome the last four years, seeing the western part of the United States and forming new friendships.

Ken never met a stranger. He loved life and lived it with such integrity. Ken, in his last years, participated in three clinical trials for prostrate cancer research at the UCSF Cancer Center. He lived his life helping others and was hoping to make a contribute to finding a cure for this disease.

Instead of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent for prostate cancer research: Charles Ryan Research Fund, Attention Murial UCSF Cancer Center, 1600 Divisadero Street, Box 1711, San Francisco, CA 94115, (memo In Memory of Kenneth Warren). Checks are to be made payable to UCSF Regents. A memorial celebration is being planned by the family.

My wife (Tracy Thorsen) has so eloquently captured my feeling for the loss of my elder brother. Still, to Jean, I hope distance does not keep us apart in spirit at least. God gave me two brothers and I shall see both again.

Prayers of strength and courage are sent to all who were touched by Kenny. His and Jean's thoughtfulness touched me when they sent my husband and I to a wonderful wedding night at the beach. I have not been able to spend much time over the years with him or his family due to distance but one thing I know my husband and I took from his example is the strong sense of family we have. See you again Kenny in God's time...Love Tracy
