Carmichael, California - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Cassidy on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was 70 years old at the time of his death.
Kevin was born May 17, 1953, in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest of six children born to his parents, Tom and Tess Cassidy. He grew up and attended school in the Philadelphia area. After graduating from Pennsbury H.S. in 1971, Kevin attended the University of Georgia on a 4-year basketball scholarship. An injury in 1972 ended his basketball hopes, but he continued his studies in Journalism before leaving in1975.
Kevin was lucky to find careers in the two fields he loved most: Music and Golf. His love of music led him to a 20-year career with Tower Records. Starting in 1986 as a store clerk at the Walnut Creek Tower store, he was promoted through the ranks to Executive VP of Operations, Marketing and Digital Sales in 2002. He left Tower Records in 2006 shortly before its liquidation.
The moment Kevin began working at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course, he knew he was home. He loved that his place of employment was a golf course. He loved working with everyone there, from golf course staff members to tournament folks he came to know, to golf buddies he played with on the course. They were all friends. Over the course of 17 years, he was instrumental in increasing social media presence for the golf course. He significantly increased outside tournament business and brought Friday Night Patio Music events to the course. He built his Ladies Twilight League from 8 players in 2010 to over 70 by 2021. He also helped create and market the AH Junior Golf Academy. Kevin left his position as Marketing, Tournaments and Events Director in 2021 when he retired.
Kevin had a larger-than-life presence. He came from a large loving family, but his friendships, many who he considered family also, were the focus of his life. His family, friends, and 'golf buddies,' were his first and only priority. He was always available for a text, a call, or a chat about music, golf, life in general. He inspired those around him and made them better.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents Tom and Tess Cassidy, his brother Dennis, and his sister Pat. He is survived by his partner Diane. He is also survived by his brother Michael and sister-in-law Nicole, his brother Tom, his brother Jeffrey, his brother-in-law Bo Meyersieck, and six nephews.
If you would like to honor Kevin, take someone close for coffee, lunch, or dinner. Play 18 at your favorite course. Raise a glass and smile. Remember the good times. Don't cry because he's gone, smile because you had the opportunity to be part of his life.
A memorial service will be held on March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Event Center at Milagro. Address is 5038 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael.

When I received the call and was told of Kevin's passing, like many of you, I was saddened and thought of our many years of working together, having fun and watching him achieve much success.
In my mind, Kevin had exceptional people skills and treat everyone with dignity and respect. Given Kevin's many skills and talents, the ones I admired the most were how he treated people and being a good listener.
I met Kevin in 1988, when I came to San Francisco, and had the pleasure of watching him grow and becoming a successful businessman and leader.
You are and will always be missed my friend and thank you for all you have done for all who knew you during our journey together.
It was our pleasurer to know you and call you friend.

Truth be told we got off to a rocky start, but I´ll never forget the evening he came into Tower Broadway and asked me to step outside to talk. He said " I´d like to consider everything that´s happened between us in the past as water under the bridge." I said " I´m cool with that." And from that point on, we were pals. We´d talk about music a lot, mostly jazz, basketball, but all kinds of stuff. He had a way about him when us needed someone to talk to. Through our private conversations he said some of the funniest stuff that I´ll have to keep in confidence lol. Cracked me up. We had dinner a couple years ago when I was visiting Sacramento and I introduced Kevin to my son. He mentioned he could see our bond. Meant a lot to me. Rest in peace my friend. You were one of the good ones and I value the times we shared.

There are simply no words at this time, other than my deepest of condolences to Michael, Tom, Jeffrey, Diane, and the rest of his family and loved ones.
I met Kevin at Tower Records, as he was largely responsible for my career there. We met just as I had finished college and was preparing to leave Tower to complete my PhD at UCLA. He convinced me to give Tower one more year, which I did, and which ultimately turned in to another 11 years. His wisdom became a guiding force in my life as he became not just a mentor, but a lifelong friend whom I cherish to this day. I will miss him dearly, but am so thankful that our paths crossed over 3 decades ago. Thank you Kevin...you made a difference.

Kevin, so many great memories of our times at Tower, from shows to instore events, to our many lunches out! I always enjoyed my days when I knew I was going to see you! One of our favorite lunch spots was the Cheesesteak shop, you called them "vitamins", I still call them that to this day! RIP Kevin

Kevin played in our Thursday skins group of 16 players but not until 1month ago I had the privilege of being in his foursome for the first time to play with Kevin
He was a perfect gentleman and when his game started to go sideways he said to me well time to have a beer
I said why not I'll join you we both had a beer together and it was a pleasure to play with Kevin will miss you God bless you and its not goodbye but see you later
