Laurence McNabney Obituary

McNABNEY, LAURENCE
"LARRY" WILLIAMS
Born December 19, 1948, died 2001. He was a native Nevadan, preceded in death by his father, Jim McNabney and mother, Marie McNabney and older brother, James McNabney, Jr. He is survived by daughters, Cristin Becker and Tavia Christine Williams (Seth), both of Reno; son, Joseph James McNabney of Sacramento, California; and granddaughter, Lauren Marie Williams of Reno. Larry attended local schools, graduated from Reno High School in the Class of 1966. He received his Bachelors from the University of Nevada Reno in 1970. Graduated from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in 1974. While at McGeorge, he excelled academically and finished near the top of his class. After passing both the California and Nevada bars, he served a Clerkship and then went to work for a Deputy Public Defender for Washoe County. In 1977, Larry formed a partnership with Ron J. Bath and represented clients in high profile criminal cases. He also served as a special Deputy District Attorney from 1985-1986. Mr. McNabney was also a Federally appointed Defense Attorney in "The Company" Case, which proved to be the longest Federal drug trial in US history. After a three year retirement hiatus, he moved back to Reno and opened his Personal Injury office. He later opened offices in Las Vegas and Elko, Nevada and Sacramento, California. Larry became interested in Halter horses about three years ago. Larry was in many horse shows, saying "the Quarter Horse as a breed is absolutely the best, an amateur like myself gets to grow with the breed and meet wonderful people along the way." He lead the nation in Amateur 2 year old Geldings. Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 16th, 2002, at 10:00am, at Ross, Burke & Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno.
