Lawrence LUDWIG Obituary

Lawrence C. Ludwig, known and loved as Larry, 74, of Fair Oaks, cast his last fly line out of this world on May 7, 2014 from complications during cardiac surgery days before. He leaves on the banks of life, his wife Noelann, children Greg Rihl (Alexandra), Stephanie Ponce (Kevin) and Spencer Ludwig, and baby granddaughter, Stella Blue. He leaves behind as well, sister Janice Rosenberg, brother George Michael Ludwig, and admiring nieces and nephews; Sheli Church, Sam, Alexis and Danielle Rosenberg, Kelly Wishon and Michael Ludwig.
He was born in Beaverton, Oregon on January 24, 1940 to parents, George and Ethel Ludwig. During childhood he played accordion and tap danced on stage with a talent corporation for several years. After serving six years with the National Guard stationed in San Francisco, he received a Bachelor of Science (B.S. - so Larry) in Business Administration from San Jose State University in 1964. After working in San Jose with his friend and mentor, John Pearne, Larry moved to Sacramento in 1969 and began a successful investigative firm, Ludwig & Associates. During his years in business, he was well known and respected in the workers' compensation legal and insurance industry not only for his investigative expertise, but for his green thumb and eagerly sharing flowers over the years from his lovingly cultivated garden. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his generosity, humility, tolerance and patience. His honest and forthright nature could at times be daunting and at the same time refreshing. He was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and shared with his entire loving family his deep appreciation for nature. A man on the move all the time, he loved to work at home as well as in his chosen field and not quite ready for retirement. He was a world traveler, journeying through much of North America, many parts of Central America and even the Orient. Although Larry was not a large man in stature, in his personality he stood as a giant. Through his everyday life and travels and in always sharing conversations, there were no strangers in his world. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him. We hope that he finds that perfect stream full of steelhead wherever he is.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at 8601 Farley Way, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. Our healing will be strengthened by sharing stories and good times with Larry. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, donations can be made in his name to California Waterfowl Association, Ducks Unlimited or American Diabetes Association.

That was a beautiful obituary and described a wonderful man perfectly. How sad for your family and this world to lose him. He welcomed us to the neighborhood with gardening tips the day after we met him and we have planted many of his bulbs that he shared with us each fall for the past 4 years. I will remember him every spring when they bloom! You have our deepest sympathy. Dianne and Matt
