I live on Lea's street, at the other end. I always thought Lea was the most elegant, classy "older woman" on our street. I wish I had known her better. We had some lovely conversations thru the years. I was able to visit her a couple of times in the fall after her diagnosis. I didn't know she had died till I stopped by to see her neighbor yesterday.
My father in law died on Dec. 28, another younger neighbor on January 28th. I hardly have any family left and I hope that you all know what a treasure Lea was. I'll really miss her. I hope I can stay as sharp and age as gracefully.
I think we forget that women were a part of that "greatest generation" too.

Lea was a friend of my mother, Barbara Pratt of Washington State. They spent time in the Marines together, then kept in contact in the years since. I was named Nancy Lea, after this wonderful woman and am proud to have her name. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and feel honored to have had a conversation with her over the phone several months ago..Please accept my deepest condolences. Nancy Lea Blasko

Sincere sympathy to the family from her sister Marines in the Women Marines Association. The third stanza of the Marines Hymn states "If the Army and the Navy ever looked on Heaven's Scenes, they would find the streets are guarded by United States Marines." Your beloved Marine has left this life to take up a new post in Heaven's detachment. Semper Fidelis Marine Cassidy. Mary Broussard, WMA National Chaplain

Terry,
I was sorry to read of your mother's passing. It's hard to lose a parent at any time but especially during the holidays. My Mother left us on December 22 several years ago. Sorta takes the Merry part out of Christmas. My best to you and Elise and hi to the old gang at PSWD.

Terry,
I was always so impressed by your mother's demeanor, soft and gentle. i spoke with her infrequently , over the last 10 years. When she called my mother and i was there i would recognize who my mother was talking to, Auntie Lea. As a kid our family called her "Auntie Lea". I remember her as a very special lady with a godly faith toward's life.

On behalf of the Women Marines Association (WMA) I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Lea's family. We stand by the saying "Once a Marine Always a Marine" so never fear that her dedicated service to our Country, the Marine Corps and to our Association will ever be forgotten. Lea will be recognized at a special Memorial Service at our Biennial Convention next September in Philadelphia.
Semper Fidelis, (Always Faithful)
