Letitia PAGE Obituary

PAGE, Letitia Irene
February 21, 1981 - December 2, 2009
Lettie will forever be an inspiration to those who knew her. She was an accomplished Student Athlete. Lettie graduated from Florin High School in 1999, earning scholastic honors and competing statewide in Cross Country. Always the fiery spirit, Lettie stayed driven, graduating from Sacramento State in 2007. Being the first in her family to graduate college, Lettie balanced her academics with work, soccer and running. At the time of her diagnosis, she was training to compete in marathons. Even with the hardship of her treatment, she continued to play soccer, refusing to let unfortunate circumstances impede her. Lettie loved animals so much she volunteered her time at the SPCA. Growing up, Lettie rode her horse "Tequila" in the "Greenies" and "The Guys and Gals" youth mounted drill groups. She found the energy to care for her birds, turtles and dog, no matter how fatigued. Lettie was an avid cook and loved to bake. She made the best cheesecake around. Lettie had dreamt of attending culinary school. Two years ago, Lettie was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive cancers. True to her character, she faced the truth and then fought for her life. In the end, she passed peacefully, having seized every moment and ounce of life she had within her. She is loved dearly and will be missed so much. Lettie is survived by her mother, Linda Casillas; beloved fiance', Michael Viramontes; father, Phillip Page; sisters Tabitha Romero and Jennifer Dhols; nephews Phillip, Daniel, and Major; nieces, Gabrielle and Elizabeth; grandmother, Tina Casillas; her aunts/uncle Georgianna & Tony Asano and Shirley Thomas; cousins David & Erin Valerio and Michael & Autumn Valerio and their families. Lettie leaves behind her two silent pillars, like fathers in every ounce of effort and care, Raymond Viramontes and James Alway loved her like she was their own. Lettie will be met in heaven by her late grandfather, George J. Casillas, and her cousin, Ranston E. Ferguson. We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the Viramontes Family for taking care of our Lettie during her illness. We are forever grateful to her Aunt Shirley and Sister Tabitha for their round-the-clock care of Lettie in the toughest of hours; and to Sutter Hospice, especially Jerri, for their empathy and for their diligence. Friends are invited to a Visitation on Monday, December 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 with Rosary at 7:00 P.M.; and a Prayer Service on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. all at Lombard & Co. Funeral Directors, 1550 Fulton Avenue, Sacramento CA 95825. (916-483-3297) . Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure .

My thoughts and prayers are with the family through this difficult time. I know your angel Lettie will be missed. I had the pleasure of running track with Lettie at Florin High School and Sacramento City college. As a friend and teammate, Lettie was honest and compassionate. She was a fierce competitor and motivated others to work harder. Anyone who met or knew Lettie could appreciate her strong will and determination in life, and of course her bright smile. ~ Melanie King, teammate and friend

Linda and family,

Lettie Page...one of Florin's finest student/athletes has passed before her time. She was a pleasure to coach and she always "surrendered to the game" when she trained and competed in the sport of cross country. She finally achieved the distinction of All-Delta League in cross country her senior year. She was so proud of that! I have fond memories of her at our team running camps. She always looked forward to the long run in which we ran into Markleeville and back--8 miles total. She took the time to out to call me during the time my father was battling his colon cancer. I remember her telling me about her cancer, but I was caught off guard as I thought she would have more time. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lettie's family, may her smile and passion for life keep you strong and smiling forever and ever...

Lettie and I used to run together in high school and she was always so energetic and happy. I will miss her terribly as I'm sure everyone who has every been blessed by knowing her will. She is at peace now and I rejoice knowing that she is no longer suffering. I look forward to the day when we can run together again with our Lord and Savior. Dear Linda and Family,
I could not believe the news when I heard Lettie had passed away, I was very sad because we were childhood friends. My family (the Gaviola's) grew up on the same street as your family when we were kids. I remember when Lettie and I used to play outside until dark, ride bikes, run around and play with her cats. I also remember her love for horses greatly. :) She truly made a positive impact in my life as well as my family's life.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time.

Dear Linda and Family,
I was so sad to hear that Lettie passed away. I will always think of her when I walk through the quad at Sacramento City College, where I would see her from time to time in her pre-Sac State years. It was nice that she always found the time to stop and talk; always having a good word and smile for me. Her delightful personality, and full of life attitude will be the legacy she leaves for all of us. Lettie will be truly missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time.
