Sacramento, California - Loyde Charles Howard was born on the grounds of Fort Sam Houston (now Joint Base San Antonio), Texas on March 16, 1965. His parents were Duane Orin Howard (1941-2008) and Elizabeth Jean Wheat (1946-1968). Loyde married Frani Thieme (1958-2022) when he was 20, they divorced six years later. Loyde spent most of his career as a security guard, the last 28 years at the California Energy Commission. He is remembered fondly by friends as a sweet guy, highly intelligent, very affable, with an offbeat sense of humor. Services will be private. Please make donations, in remembrance of Loyde, to the Lavender Library (https://www.lavenderlibrary.com/).

Cousin Loyde came to live with the Burman family at age three, when his mom died. His dad was a career army man and was in the service. I was about 9 years older than him and I loved having him as a younger brother. He was so bright and full of energy and joy.
He was a fan of Star Trek, and was glued to the TV for every episode. I couldn´t believe how smart he was and how scientific his mind was. It seemed like he knew a little bit about everything.
It broke my heart to say goodbye when his dad got out of the army. He was about 10 or so when he went to live with his dad and his dad´s new wife.
I will always love you Loyde.

Loyde always had a smile and a hello every day. I'll miss you and am really glad you don't have to deal with pain and health issues anymore.

I met Loyde at the Energy Commision, a kind and gentle person. For several years we would have a short exchange whenever he was on duty.
Loyde, you left this world a better place than it was before you.
You're remembered and is missed.

Miss you, brother. I´m glad you´re finally free of pain, but I will miss having you (the brother I never had) in my day to day life, like you were there for the past 30+ years. Betty
