Lucille Overaas Obituary

OVERAAS, Lucille Elizabeth Lucille Elizabeth Overaas, nee Gloria Morrison born in 1925 to Elsie Veronica (Yonick) and Raymond Morrison in Yonkers, New York passed away on April 7, 2015. Lucille graduated from St. Patrick's Cathedral High School in NYC, later enlisting in the Women's Air Force and working in meteorology while stationed in West Germany and Alaska where she married LaRue B. Overaas, (later divorced). From 1968 to 1987 she worked for the state of California, for many years at the Air Resources Board in the meterology dept. Lucille was predeceased by her parents, sister Margaret, and brother Raymond. She is survived by her 6 children, Matthew, John (Patty), Margaret, Gea, Stacie (Dave) and Peter. She especially enjoyed time with her 5 grandchildren, Justin, Ian, Sean, Scott (Loretta) and Jeff (Kim) and 3 great-grandchildren. An avid reader, Lucille enjoyed discussing politics and the news - she had hoped to see a woman elected to the presidency in her lifetime. Some of her happiest memories were of her travels - especially to the Soviet Union, Morocco, China and Ireland- with her family and friends. Lucille was an active member of St. Anne's Church for over 50 years; her Memorial Mass will be held there on Friday, April 17 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.

What a wonderful person she was. I had the chance to play bunco with her several times. She will be deeply missed. My prayers go out to her family. Michelle
