Madeleine A. Huff

1933 - 2016

Madeleine A. Huff died at the age of 83 at Auburn Faith Hospital, on March 8, 2016 following a long illness. She was born April 3, 1933. Madeleine was a native of France, came to America in 1959, was naturalized in 1964, becoming a General Insurance Broker in Salinas, where she owned her own Insurance Agency until 1972 when she retired. She was an owner of residential and commercial rental properties until 2006. Mrs. Huff is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Michael Malher and her granddaughter Gabriella of Rancho Cordova; Francoise and Daniel Chapoton, Andree and Roger Bourgault, her sisters and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews of France, Della Hill and Lois Goppert of West Virginia, her sisters-in-law. As a General Insurance Broker, she was Attorney in fact for the U.S.F.&G. in Monterey County, where she became the first female VP of the Alisal Chamber of Commerce. She served as Secretary Treasurer of the Independent Insurance Brokers, State of California. She was a member of the Salinas Chamber of Commerce. She worked as an army civilian Interpreter for the American Government in France, where she met her husband Ike. After her retirement, Madeleine and Ike traveled Europe, South and Central America, Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean 18 times with the Queen Elizabeth II, while visiting her family in France. She enjoyed a rich family life becoming a fixture along with her husband in the life of her daughter's family and friends. She had a wonderful life in Auburn with many great friends. Madeleine asked that her friends and family wishing to remember her, place ONE RED ROSE ONLY on her coffin. Services will be held at Lassila Mortuary, Auburn, CA. The viewing is Sunday March 20, 4-5pm. Funeral is Monday March 21, 1pm with a luncheon and celebration of life following. Interment is Tuesday March 22 at Auburn Public Cemetery at 11 am. All are welcomed.
