Margo McDaniel Obituary

Margo Lenz McDaniel entered into eternal rest on April 21, in the presence of her loving family. Margo was born in Sacramento, California on June 25, 1942, born to Madge and Max Lenz. She lived her entire life in Sacramento, was actively involved in the Brownie and Girl Scout programs, and attended school through Sacramento State College. In 1962, Margo married John Joseph McDaniel, her high school sweetheart. Margo obtained a Bachelor's Degree and Teaching Credential and started her 35 year career teaching 6th grade in the North Sacramento School District. She later transferred to the San Juan Unified School District where she would be selected as 1991 & 1993 "Teacher of the Year". She was a dynamic, compassionate, and inspiring instructor and mentor regardless of the grade or subject she taught. Her favorite times were those set around family and friends. Over the course of their 54 years of marriage, Margo and John traveled to 57 countries both as a couple and with close friends. Outside her devotion to her family and career, Margo enjoyed her membership in the local Rose Society, and supporting her children's and grandchildren's schools and interests, with anything from working the fireworks booth, bake sales, sewing for theater productions, chaperoning field trips, helping to earn girl scout badges, taking on the role of Parent Club President for 9 years, or attending hundreds of sporting events and theater productions. Her loving Mother, Father, Stepfather, and Stepsister Donna Scott precede her in death. She is survived by her Stepsister Bonnie Sannar and "sister" Diane Varanelli; daughter Kimberly Ford and her husband Robert, son Brian McDaniel and his wife Julie. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Robert and Daniel Ford, and Lenzie Ford-James (husband Ben James); and Morgan and Erin McDaniel. Margo was an important force in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Godchildren, and all those who called her "Mom or Nana". Everyone's life has been enriched by knowing her and all will feel the loss. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life at Services, and reception, to be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 7th, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael 95608. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Church or to St. Jude.

I lived across the street from Margo on Oxford St. We used to love to play act as kids, the latest movie that was out. We had so
much fun in our backyard. I broke my nose in their pool and never got over how embarrassed I was. Marcos mother Madge,
was so kind. So sorry to the family. What a wonderful person to know. I feel blessed. Lana

I will always remember witnessing your heartfelt loving sentiment that you gave to your daughter on her 50th Birthday. You said to her, I am so happy you were born! What a wonderful, loving and caring mother you were. We are blessed with your legacy to keep this world filled with love and kindness. It was an honor to have met you. As your family mourns your loss, I pray that God's love will heal and comfort them until we all meet again in the next life. May God Bless you and care for you dear Margo Lenz McDaniel.
