Marilyn Baker Obituary
August 6, 1937 - March 19, 2025
Fair Oaks, California - Marilyn Werner Baker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at the age of 87. Marilyn was born on August 6, 1937, in San Francisco, CA and led a life filled with love, creativity, and service to her community.
Marilyn was married to the love of her life, Hardy Baker, for 60 years, until his passing in 2017. Marilyn's heart was devoted to her family. She leaves behind her daughters, Cynthia Baker Nolan (Kenneth) and Laurie Baker, along with her grandchildren, Emily Bridge (Phillip), Michael Nolan (Jessica), Mark Nolan (Carley), Hayley Baker, and Benjamin Baker. Marilyn's legacy also lives on in her seven beautiful great-grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Annie, Aurora, Samuel, Jack and Eleanor who were the light of her life.
A talented multimedia artist, she explored sculpture, furniture making, and ceramics as well as many other artistic mediums. Marilyn's home was always in her studio.
Deeply committed to giving back to her community, Marilyn was a lifelong volunteer. She dedicated countless hours to causes she believed in. She served as PTA president, volunteered with the Assistant League of Lafayette, spent years shelving books at the Fair Oaks public library, and gave her heart to the SPCA, an organization that held a special place in her life.
Marilyn was extremely proud of her alma mater, UCLA, as well as her sorority, Sigma Kappa. A loyal sports fan and especially faithful to her beloved 49ers, she always had her 49ers flying high on every gameday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sacramento SPCA (6201 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento, CA 95828) or to your favorite charity in Marilyn's memory.
