Masao Kawate Obituary
Passed away on January 28, 2006 at the age of 84. He was born in Denver, CO to Masaichi and Shinobu Kawate. He operated Nelson's ARCO on the corner of Riverside and Broadway for 20 years. He is survived by his wife Taye, daughter Wendy Umino, son Nelson Jr., five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and sister Lucille Honda. His older sister Mary Ishii and younger brother Sam passed away before him. A private, Buddhist memorial was held at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers on February 4, 2006 for family members.
