Matthew Walas Obituary

WALAS, Matthew D.
In Sacramento, on August 6, 2004, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Matt was born on August 25, 1988 in San Jose. The beloved son of Stan and Sharon Walas and brother to Chris & Marie. Grandson of Richard and Christina Reittinger of Naples, FL and Anna Jarczynski of Granite Bay, CA. In life, Matt had a special way of bringing smiles to the faces and joy to the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was an amazing boy filled with immeasurable joy, peace & strength. He loved being with his friends, playing guitar, listening to music, skateboarding, snowboarding, and video games to name a few. He loved his school, Jesuit High School, where he excelled as an Honor Student and was involved in various clubs and worked part time at Jesuit House. Matt touched everyone with his sweet, gentle spirit. Now that he's gone, those cherished memories will be his legacy to all of us. We take comfort in knowing that you are in Heaven, playing & listening to music with God and skateboarding with Jesus. You are deeply loved by your family and all those that know you. Friends are welcome for a visitation on Tuesday, August 10 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael, CA from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with the rosary to follow at 7:00pm. My greatest sympathy goes out to the Walas family. I can only imagine the pain that you may be going through right now. I attended your son's funeral today and I joined the many people who knew him. I go to St. Francis and I wasn't a friend, but this past year I talked to him once on accident because I mistakenly thought he was someone else I knew, but he was cool with it. I've never had anyone close to me die so I don't know exactly how it feels to lose someone, but this is close enough. I, too, was touched by this accident that occurred. My heart is with the Walas, Cremins, Andersen, Goudberg family. I'm sorry for your loss. *

To the family and friends of Matt.....

Please know that the community mourns with you. We mourn the loss of a wonderful person that would have been an asset to the world.

We don't know you, but we shed tears for your loss and we pray that you will find the strength, somehow, to get through this most horrible of times. Try to remember that Matt will live on in the hearts of all who ever knew him.

To Matt & his family: I did not have the pleasure of knowing you, but as a JHi alum, it feels like I did know you all. I am so sorry over the passing of your son, Matt. You have the pleasure of knowing that Matt is enjoying the eternal gift of life in heaven. I have known a few people (from my old elementary school and from JHi) who have died over the years. It is tough. It is sad. But I know with your strength, the community's strength and support, and God's unending love, we will overcome this terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you all...
