Michael Benyo Obituary
BENYO, Michael
Born Sept. 11, 1916, in Corning, NY, he died on April 21, 2006. He attended Corning Free Academy, graduated from Syracuse University (1940). He served in the South Pacific with the 306th Airdrome Squadron in WWII and worked at U.S. Steel in Pittsburg, Ca., until retiring in 1976. Michael's first wife, Elise Schott Benyo, passed away in 1977. In 1980 Michael and Edith Hagstrom married and moved to Orland, where they raised pistachios and olives until 1997, when they moved to Roseville, Ca. Michael was active in both the Masonic Order and VFW and was a troop leader for the Antioch Boy Scouts. Michael is survived by a son, Michael S. Benyo, daughters Catherine A. Stiefel and Helen E. Hagstrom, grandchildren Julie Kusiak, Marcia Crouse, Jack Stiefel, Matt Stiefel, Peter, Kristen, and Valerie Hagstrom, great-grandchildren Riquel and Ava Crouse, Tyler, Troy, and Elise Stiefel. Funeral service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home, Antioch, on Wednesday, May 3, at 1:00 PM, interment at Oak View Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 5, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1090 Main St., Roseville. Those who wish to donate may do so to St. John's Building Fund.
