BOWMAN, Michael Lloyd

We lost our beloved Michael on Thanksgiving Day, 2011, from complications associated with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family until he breathed his last breath. Mike was born and raised in Sacramento, graduated from Sac. High in 1982, attended Sac. City College and graduated from UCSB in 1986. After graduation, he entered the mortgage loan business. He worked for several mortgage companies until he started his own very successful company. Halloween was a big occasion for him. He placed daily decorations in the yard from the 1st to the 31st of October, matching the number of decorations to the number of days in the month. He began growing pumpkins as therapy toward cancer recovery in 2002; it became a ritual for him. As he grew them, he developed an interest in growing giant pumpkins! His largest pumpkin was 450 pounds and was featured in the Sacramento Bee in 2010. Michael was married for 24 years to Erlinda Bowman and is survived by three children, Zachery, Scarlet and Chloe, parents Lowell Bowman and Clora Johnston, sister Carri Cardenas, brother Craig (Jennifer) Bowman, step brother Chris Martin, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Vigil & viewing Wed., Nov. 30 7pm & memorial service Thurs., Dec. 1 at 10 AM, both will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.

Bo and Family;
It seems only yesterday we took the kids to fish at Lake Spaulding when they were so very little. Michael was so much fun to be around with all of his enthusiasm and devilishness. Only seen him a few times in the past 10 or so years. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to you and your family. I will never forget him. Love to all.

Dear Family and Friends,
My sincere condolences for our loss. I will always remember Mike as a friend and annual Fishout partner for decades. In fact he is the former president of Preserving History A Reel Tradition annual fishout. As the former treasurer, and current co president, I have many fond memories while camping and fishing with Mike. Although he always needed help backing Lowell's boat down the ramp, and assistance starting the motor, Mike was a blast to be around. He always had a smile on his face, a quick witt and enjoyed verbal jabs all weekend long (i.e. Jesse's Pink Lady boat). Bonding as men with Mike was easy and I enjoyed my time with him. Mike won the 3 day tournament by catching a 15 1/4" Rainbow Trout in June of 2000.
Mike, may the sun shine on your shoulder, the breeze blow gently in your face and your line remain wet for eternity.
I will miss you greatly,

Dear Clora, Lowell, Carri, Craig, Erlinda, Zachery, Scarlet and Chloe,
I received an email from Doug Lee today with the news of Michael's untimely death. My tears and condolences go to each of you. Michael was my student for several years at Bancroft Elementary School; his class was among my favorites and a group that I was able to follow all these years. Michael was the gentle soul, with beautiful eyes, a gifted mind and a great smile. Mike was always willing to do what was asked, ever ready to dive into a new project, a team player are words to describe my memories. As "Glenbrook families", we also camped together and shared lots of "growing up" times. Our family's thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Michael will be received in God's loving arms and he will be watching over all of you as you travel through this most difficult time.
