Michael LAUGHLIN Obituary
LAUGHLIN, Michael H.
Born June 14, 1939 in Sacramento to Henry and Doris Laughlin, Michael succumbed to injuries sustained in a fall on Oct. 3, 2011. His parents, brother, Pat, sister-in-law Karen and nephew, Brian preceded him in death. Michael is survived by his son, Kevin, two beautiful granddaughters, sister Annette and many loving nephews and nieces.
Michael grew up in Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years then joined the City of Sacramento Fire Department in 1963. In May 1979 he reluctantly retired from the Fire Department after being seriously injured while fighting a fire. If you ever visited the Sacramento Natural Food co-op, you might have seen him wearing his beanie cap with the propeller on top ready to bag your groceries or happily help you in any way be could. For many years he has graciously assisted with refreshments at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento where he was known for his loving hugs. Michael was a very generous person and enjoyed helping those in need. Even though he lived on a limited income, one of his passions was giving to the many charities and causes be believed in. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Life services will be held at The Unitarian Universalis Society of Sacramento located at 2425 Sierra Boulevard at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011.

Michael was a part of the fabric of my church experience. Always there with a hug, a smile, and a coffee pot. His was a special ministry. He will be dearly missed.

I grew up next door to the Laughlin family and knew Michael very well...he was a very sweet man and a good neighbor to my mom...and he really had a soft spot for his and anyone else's dogs! My condolences to Annette and the family. Stephanie (Whyte) Diaz
