Nancy Owen Obituary

March 2,1938 - October 3, 2018 Nancy passed away peacefully in her Belmont home after a recent diagnosis of cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Marjory Chenu, and her beloved husband of 49 years, Darrell Owen. Born and raised in Sacramento, Nancy attended Marshall Elementary, California Jr. High, and McClatchy High schools. While at McClatchy she was an active member of numerous student body committees, as well as the California Scholastic Federation honor society. After graduating from high school, she attended both the University of Oregon and UC Davis. While at Oregon she was a member of the Theta sorority. Nancy and Darrell moved their family to Belmont, CA in 1969, where they raised their daughters, Suzanne and Dianne. She remained active over the years volunteering at the Assistance League, participating in book & bridge clubs, and enjoying the company of her numerous friends and neighbors. Nancy owned a summer home near Baxter, CA, where she and her extended family enjoyed many gatherings. She is a decendant of a pioneer family. Her maternal great-grandfather came to California as a member of a wagon train in 1863. Nancy is survived by her brother Jim Chenu (Julie), daughter Suzanne Black (Darryl), granddaughter Megan Black, grandson Jason Black, and step-daughter Dianne Anderson (Jeff). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Hospice of San Mateo or to a charity of your choice.
