To My California Family, I was saddened to hear of Uncle Neil's sudden death. Of the few memories I have as a child in California Uncle Neil is a "Big" memory for me. He opened his home to me and my sister during a difficult time in our lives and made us feel "at home". I will always be grateful. Uncle Neil visited us a couple times in Mississippi and always made us feel special. I will forever remember "his smile". Much love and prayers to you all.

Neil was my Mom and Dad's neighbor and I was so sorry to hear about his passing. He always came outside to greet all of us when we came to visit my parents as if we were visiting him! He constantly teased me about the numerous "Chevy" vehicles I would arrive in and tell me I needed a permit to park a "Chevy" vehicle so close to his "Ford" vehicles! He was always happy and cheerful with a wonderful smile every time we saw him. He loved to tease all of us and my parents dog Katie to no end. He knew we loved his chicken wings, so if he knew we were coming he would make a plate of them for us. His "antics", his smile, and his chicken wings will greatly be missed.

A wave of sadness washed over me when I read of Neil's passing. He was the single most optimistic, positive, upbeat person I have ever known. He had such a passion for every thing he did and never seemed to lose interest in life.

I am so sorry that I will be out of town for Neil's memorial. I always enjoyed Neil...especially at the social club events here in the park, particularly Halloween, and just waving me in and out of PVS. He was certainly one of a kind! Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Suzie Hart

Neil was our friend and next door neighbor, we spent a lot of time "over the fence" talking NASCAR, NASCAR and more NASCAR!! Spent a lot of time debating about Ford vs. Chevy. We grew very close over the years and we will greatly miss how he could brighten your day with his rendition of "Elvis" and his many "talking animals". Life is not gonna be the same without you next door. Love you Neil...Steve and Linda

Oh Neil! Along with Esther. I too remember those C.A. Rally trips in your T-Bird. Mom and Dad love you so - even if you were a trickster. I remember you playing your trumpet in Dad's church and your Mom and Dad singing "Life is like a mountain railroad". So many times you gave me a ride to Franklin Skate Rink so I could join the Bethel Temple youth group too. You even helped teach me to drive. Thank you for all the memories of our younger days.

May God comfort the family!

It made me very sad to read of Neil's passing. I haven't seen him since the late 50's. I sang and ministered at Bethel Temple in Sacto. and Neil really worked with our youth. He was always kidding my sister Marilyn and myself because we looked alike & when we sang he could never decide who sang which part. He was always cheerful, and I can't believe the years have flown by so quickly. We were the same age, and it's very hard to believe that we are no longer in our twenties. I now live in my hometown of Tyrone, PA where I grew up, and I check the Sacramento newspaper almost daily because I have many fond memories of being there. I'm sure Neil will be be missed very much by all who knew and loved him. May God bless and comfort his family, and I'll look forward to seeing him in Heaven. Love to all, Idee Peters Davis

I am going to miss my uncle very much, he made me laugh when I was young with his jokes about "the 3 peanuts" and he had the coolest cars. As I got older, he and Darlene got me interested in classic cars, especially mustangs. I bought one for my first car. This past Christmas I had the chance to spend some time with him and it was great. We looked at his photo albums and talked of his days racing the dirt track in his unbeatable T-Bird and he even touched up the paint on my car. I am so glad we had that time together, I will cherish it and the rest of the memories of Uncle Neil forever.

When I read Neil's obituary this morning, memories of my youth came flooding into my mind. As a teenager at the old Bethel Temple, Neil was a big influence on my life. Probably my most memorable experience was when he used to take some of the youth to C.A. Rally's in his T-Bird. What a thrill it was when he'd go fast enough under the 16th Street overpass to cause the car to "fly".

Neil was so full of life and fun to be around.

My condolences to his family, especially Darleen, Irene and Dorothy.
