Nelwyn was a wonderful mentor to me. I hadn't seen her in more than 20 years, and in January, something told me to try to find her--and if she was still alive, to make sure she knew how much she helped me and my husband, Monty, to have great careers (in social work). I located her through "google", and called her immediately. I was touched that she remembered me and our experiences so vividly. We chatted for nearly an hour and made plans for me to visit her at her apartment in the Spring. She was an amazing pioneer and role model--from her fashionable boots to her willingness to do what was right but not maybe popular. My love and condolences to all of her family--and know her legacy is to the larger family of humankind.
