Norma Dibbell Obituary

June 6, 1926 - January 2, 2017 Norma Dibbell was born in Westwood, New Jersey and passed away at home in Placerville, CA. Norma is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frank; sons, Frank III (Paula), Christopher (Abby), Bruce (Carol) and Robert; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one great grandson and her sister Shirley Smith. When Norma's children were growing up in Sunnyvale, she was known as the sucker lady to all the neighborhood kids. Her career included many years in sales at Macy's and later as a Medical Assistant. She and Frank moved to El Dorado County in 1989 after retiring. Norma was an avid crafter. She especially enjoyed needle point, plastic canvasing and crocheting. Many of her crafts are treasured by those who received them as gifts. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Snowline Hospice who provided Norma with such wonderful care. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines, Placerville, CA.

When I was a little girl, you used to sing me to sleep. Fuzzy Wuzzy, Three Little Fishes, And My Hat ( in German) were my favorites. You taught me to swim, and I was always impressed by your graceful, water dancing skills. Every summer, you would take me to Disney Land. We would always stop in Solvang and at Pea Soup Andersons on the way there. You would always bribe me to go on your favorite ride with you, Pirates of the Caribbean, even though I was scared. But in return, you endured years of It's a Small World with me. Each fall, we would pick lemons, apples, plums, and avocados from your trees together. You would sing Julio Iglesias songs each Christmas, while we worked in the kitchen together, making fried orly, anise cookies, and leckerli. Your favorite candy was lemon hard candy, which you always had available when I visited. From you, I inherited, my love of the water, baking, gardening, and my whitty/sarcastic sense of humor. Many of my favorite childhood memories include you, and I will forever be grateful that you were my grandma.
