Patricia Anne Austin

July 12, 1938 - April 20, 2025

Sacramento, California - Pat Austin died 3:30 p.m., April 20, 2025.

She was sedated and died without pain at Kaiser Hospital in South Sacramento. With her was husband, Robert and sons Peter and Jonas. She was a terrific wife and mother.

Outside the hospital the sun was shining bright in an otherwise cloudless, blue sky. The American flag was hanging limp on its pole, only occasionally nudged by a gentle south breeze. It was Easter Sunday.

After 60 years of marriage, the hardest thing will be getting up tomorrow morning, and every morning thereafter, without her there.

Pat was a survivor. She successfully battled cancer five times only to succumb to the ravages of dementia and a stroke.

She was born to Henry and Mabel Spotts in Valley View, PA July 12, 1938 together with three brothers: Henry, Chet and Richard. After graduating from High School, she attended business school and acquired secretarial skills to prepare her for a job in Washington DC.

In Washington she met Robert N Austin and followed him to Sacramento where they married on June 20, 1964. They had two sons, Peter Miles and Jonas Joel with whom they dedicated much of their lives participating in Little League Baseball where the boys excelled. With her urging and support, both sons graduated from CSU Chico. Taking night classes, Pat too graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration from CSU Sacramento.

Pat had a career working as personnel secretary for the Reynolds Metals, West Coast End plant which manufactured millions of beverage container lids.

The absolute love of her life were two Grandchildren, whom she cherished. As youngsters, she and Robert dragged them on trips all over Europe. They introduced them to classical music attending numerous concerts with the San Francisco Symphony.

Pat was sweet, kind, compassionate and very considerate of everyone. If you met Pat, you loved her. She dealt with a lot in her life, but never let it change her sweet personality. I'll miss her smile and gentleness forever.
