ACKEN, Paul Daniel ''Dan''
Died unexpectedly and peacefully on June 28, 2009, in Sacramento. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sophia ''Chopi'' of Sacramento. He is also survived by his father Gary and stepmother Lucinda Acken of Leechburgh, Pa., mother Loretta Keathly and husband Jim of Billings, Mont., sisters Tamra, Jennifer, and Leslie, brothers Justin and Sydney, grandfather Paul Acken of Rosharon, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. Dan was a loving and caring husband, a man of compassion and strong convictions Family and friends are invited to attend a wake on Saturday, July 11, 2009, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Ink Eats, 2730 N Street, Sacramento. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.), www.bacausa.com.

Dear Chopi,
It it with great sadness to hear of Dan's passing just recently. I will always have fond memories of his jovial spirit. He always seeked to make others around him happy. With all the loving notes from friends and family, he left a great impression of the beautiful person he was.
It is with great pain to know he is no longer here to be happy with you, and for you to continue this journey of life without your special someone.

Dan was in a class I teach at American River College and was a motivated, dedicated, engaged, thoughtful, and passionate student. He sat in the front row with a smile on his face and always had something insightful to add to our discussions. I only just learned about his passing and am greatly saddened that such an amazing and generous individual is no longer with us. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Dan as a student at American River College. He was a consistent "A" student. His calm, deliberate manner of speaking gained him respect among other students. He was always willing to help others and added a very positive presence to the class. He was kind and well liked. We will miss him.

Dan was such a nice and fun guy! Remember the Ramada Chope?! ;) He had a great smile. That's what I think of first when I think of him. And it was so apparent that he loved you so much Chopi. I am so sorry we were unable to make the memorial. We will come see you soon. I love you!

This is truly not an easy thing to do! Dan was such a warm person to be around. Joel and I so enjoyed his company. It was wonderful to see how much he admired you Chopi. The way he looked at you was with such love, admiration and protection. The love he had for you was a love that most couples long to have. Dan was a wonderful person and will be truly missed.

I am so sad to see that Dan has passed away. I worked with him in Sacramento (1995/96). He became a good friend and gave rides home to people in our training class including myself. He was everyone's friend, funny, witty, and had a great chuckle - just a good guy! We lost touch over the years but you never forget good people. My sincere condolences to his family.
