Peter Grant Obituary
Peter was born in Oakland, California, on December 12, 1942, to Peter and Margaret Grant.
He spent his childhood years in the Bay Area and the Central Valley of California. He graduated from Davis Senior High in 1961, where he played on the football and baseball teams. He then enlisted in the Air Force and trained as a Radio Repair Technician. His love for flying began as a child because his father was a pilot. He started his journey by going to flight school during off-hours while working at March Air Force Base. He earned his private pilot license in 1963. He worked as a radio repair technician on B-52 Bombers in support of the Strategic Air Command and completed a brief tour of Guam. Peter finished his tour in the Air Force in 1964. He then continued his education by enrolling at Sacramento State University. While there, he met and married Lesli Hutton on July 1, 1967. He completed his degree in Industrial Technology at Fresno State University. After marrying Lesli Hutton, he took a Job in Perth, Australia, with the State Energy Commission. He and Lesli lived there until he returned to California to work for the State at Rancho Seco, SMUD, and the Highway Patrol.
Peter lived in the heart of Sacramento after his return to California. He loved going for walks and traveling. He took container ship cruises, flights to Europe, and flights throughout the United States as a pilot, while also traveling thousands of miles on his BMW motorcycle. Peter sought freedom in the air and on the road. Peter also loved watching or listening to Baseball games and followed the New York Yankees and the LA Dodgers.
Peter is survived by his brother, John, and his Niece, Bobbie, and Nephew, Jerry. He is also survived by his Ex-wife, Lesli, who he said was the love of his life. Fly high, Peter, you are free now.
