Peter MANITONE Obituary

MANITONE, Peter Peter Manitone died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving wife and children, on April 10, 2015 in Sacramento, CA, due to congestive heart failure. He was 92. Peter joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He had a life-long love of sports including bowling, horseshoe pitching and bocce ball. After retirement from many years of floor covering, Peter spent most of his days outside in his garden. He had a wonderful green thumb and enjoyed the fresh air and nature. Peter is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Pamela Colla; son, Fred Manitone; step-children, Catherine Stewart, Lisanne Zuck and Tina Collins; and 8 grandchildren. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Burial will be private.

A huge loss that really hurts. Pete was a dear friend whom I had the pleasure of countless good times and laughs over the years. Along with Forrest, Tom and Virgil, I was fortunate to have spent many, many afternoons and evenings playing Bocce with him. His enthusiasm, stubbornness, and intense competitiveness made him the ideal partner in not only Bocce, but any endeavor. I wish I could roll back the clock and do it all over again with Pete at least a million more times, and I wouldn't change a thing. Pete will remain very special to me.
