Ralph William Hilton

January 5, 1916 - May 25, 2013. Ralph passed away peacefully at home. He was the son of Livia Lazzari and William Hilton. He was born in Los Angeles and raised in Sacramento. He was a 36-year state employee, ending his career as Chief Deputy Director, California Office of Emergency Services. During World War II he served in the Navy. Ralph was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was an inveterate traveler with his wife and family members. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, of 69 years. He is survived by his three children, Valerie Coolican, Karen Thomas, and Ralph Hilton II (Madlyn). He was grandfather to nine grandchildren:Robert and Anthony Thomas; John and Jeffrey Coolican; Kori, William, Douglas,Nickolas and Madrey Hilton. His special great grandchildren include Dana Savoroski, Morgan, Jacob and Jayson Thomas; JD, Sarah and Holly Coolican; Mathieu and Elisa Coolican. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Shriner's Hospital in Sacramento.
