May 26, 1937 - September 16, 2022
West Linn, Oregon - Land Park native Richard Lauer, 85, died peacefully at his Oregon home on Friday, September 16, surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer. Born to Raymond and Clara Lauer, Richard graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to become a vocational rehabilitation counselor in service of the blind. Richard was a doting and loving husband to his wife of 32 years, Sharon Lauer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Clara Lauer and sister, Joan Emily Lauer. Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Lauer, brother Robert Lauer (Susan), stepdaughter Tami Suryan (Frank), step-grandson Jack Kinney, brothers-in-law Bob Templeman (Bonnie) and Ron Tochterman (Linda), sisters-in-law Sandra Zwicker (Jeff) and Candace Rios (Ruben); nieces Stacy Berkowitz (Max), Marla Van Laningham, and Jenny Dennis (John); and great nieces and nephews Abby Berkowitz, Zach Berkowitz, Hannah Van Laningham, Ian Dennis, Callum Dennis, as well as many relatives and dear friends. A private memorial will take place at Home of Peace Jewish Cemetery in Sacramento.
