My Best Friend. He was the one and only friend I could always count on and was always there for me and I him. So many memories of young craziness but always loyal and real love as brothers and real friendship. Even after all this time I miss you brother and still think of you as the best friend I've ever had. Love and respect forever. 2112

I am deeply saddened by the news of Rich’s passing. I got to know Rich back in high school. He was such a generous person and never judgmental. He always made me feel comfortable being me. I appreciated that. We became very close back then and we soon became roommates and lived in an apartment off of Fair Oaks Blvd. We remained friends for a number of years, but fell out of touch over the past ten years. I have often thought of the great times Rich and I had together and will always cherish those moments (I will never forget our late night Taco Bell runs). I would like to extend my condolences to his family. I know he cared for all of you very much. Rich was a superb individual and will always be remembered as such.

I got to know Richard in the 80's. I first met him through Michael Patterson, Patrick Sett and Mark Paoletti. We all lived on Morley Way and had met him when I moved there in the 4th grade. I was also friends with him at Jesuit High School. Our group of friends used to enjoy going down to the river after school and go skimboarding. I met some of my close friends in high school throug Richard such as Curtis Hecht and James Higgins. Enclosed is a picture taken of Richard back in 1987 during my last year of high school at Jesuit. Knowing Rich definitely enriched my life growing up in Sacramento.

I just wanted to express my gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers from everyone. I am proud to say I am Richard’s sister and he was my brother. Rich did everything to protect me from the day I was born until the last night I saw him alive on Christmas day. Rich was my confidante and I do not know who I am going to call when things get tough. Richard loved me unconditionally and I loved him the same. I want this to be a celebration of his life and not a questioning of why he did not want a new heart. Rich was scared and I would be too. As my daughter and Rich’s niece, Carolina would say, “Richard’s heart is no longer broken.” I love you Brother.

Dick, Carolyn and the Rader family members,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. I remember your son as a little boy playing with Damon many, many years ago.

Rich was probably one the most easy going people I have ever met. Rich was one of my best friends and will never ever be replaced. Although I will miss his jokes and great sense of humor I'm just happy that I was blessed to have been able to share in memories of his time here.
