Richard Trainor Obituary

Richard Trainor
October 26, 1951 - December 8, 2021
Eugene, Oregon - Richard Charles Trainor passed away at Pete Moore Hospice House in Eugene Oregon on December 8, 2021 after a short illness.
Richard was born in Munich Germany on October 26, 1951 to Helen Rosalie Trainor and Alfred Thomas Trainor, Jr.
Richard's father was an army officer and the family moved many times as his assignments required.
In 1957, the family settled in Sacramento, CA where Richard spent most of his life. He graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1969 and attended the University of California at Davis.
During his twenties, Richard traveled the world and worked as a carpenter to support himself. It was during this time that he began his journals and realized that writing was his true passion.
Richard was a prolific writer for many years and his articles appeared in California Magazine, the Sacramento Bee, the Los Angeles Times, Sight & Sound, Elle and American Film. He tried his hand at management in the mid nineties when he was the managing editor for France Today.
He also wrote short stories, novels and investigative non fiction.
Richard never married but his constant and loved companion for many years was his wire haired fox terrier, Wylie.
Richard will be missed by his family and friends who remember his intelligence, story telling and off the wall adventures.
Richard is survived by his two brothers, Michael Trainor of Alicante Spain and Tom Trainor of St. Helena, CA.

I had a number of classes with Richard at Fern Bacon Jr. High School & Luther Burbank High School. Not mentioned in his obituary was that Rich loved the L.A. Dodgers & I was a hardcore SF GIANTS´ fan. We kidded & badgered each other a LOT, but it never got serious as we´d both laugh it off. Rich definitely knew his Dodger baseball. He was a very intelligent and high GPA student I knew would go far. Sad that I never saw or talked to him after we graduated on `69 from Burbank. He was a great guy & good friend.

I met Rick Trainor back in 1964 7th grade Fern Bacon.I can't recall what put us together, but we were Friends, especially
through the Fern Bacon years. Our friendship continued even through
the Burbank years as well.I lost contact with Rick after Graduation 1969.I always wondered
how he was doing over the years. Then came Facebook and I was able to follow him a little bit.I never made contact, and I'm sorry for that.Rick was a good man.Even though I haven't seen him in a while I'm going to miss him.when I think of my younger years,Rick Trainor is a big part of that.Rest in peace my brother, and may God Bless.
