Robert Magee Obituary

MAGEE, ROBERT LYLE
Known to his family as Rob, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 17, 2002 of complications from cancer. Rob was born on February 16, 1941. He spent his early life in Alamosa, Colorado and attended Adams State College, before transferring to UCLA. He migrated to this area in 1964 to pursue his Masters Degree in Theater Arts at the University of California at Sacramento. There he met his future wife Sherry, with whom he was to spend the next 35 years. Together they joined the Peace Corps and completed two years of service in Guatemala. Upon their return to the United States Rob pursued various careers before returning to school to obtain a law degree. For the next 15 years he practiced as an attorney with Sacramento Savings and Loan. His passion for the arts remained. He was a voracious reader, loved jazz, classical and folk recordings, and was well-versed in the film industry. He retired five years ago to pursue his many hobbies and worked with the Sacramento Opera Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bud" Magee. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his mother, Frances; his sister, Mary; and will be missed by all those who loved him. A memorial service is planned for the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the charity of your choice. So sorry to read of his passing. Bud Magee hired me to work in the loan department of Sacramento Savings in 1969. I remember many old friends from those days, including his son.
