Rodrigo Rodriguez Obituary
Born December 14, 1985 to the proud parents, Rod Rodriguez, Sr. and Eugenia "Gina" Garcia. Rod was tragically taken away from his family and friends and entered into rest on September 16, 2007. He is survived by his parents, Rod & Gina; brothers, Andre' "Dre" & Andrew "Drew" Lopez; and nieces, Evangeline & Emily Lopez. He will be missed and cherished by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He leaves behind his girlfriend, Yvonne Natad. Rod was Valedictorian of his graduating class of 2004 at Hiram H. Johnson High School and was the proud recipient of the prestigious Frank H. & Eva H. Buck Foundation Scholarship which earned him a full ride through the year 2015 at any college of his dream. He chose to attend college at UC Berkeley so he could be close to his family and was working towards earning his Degree in Accounting and eventually his PhD. He was a very well-liked student at Berkeley and a website has been set up on his behalf at www.tributetorod.org. Rod had a talent for haircutting and a passion for giving. He never forgot where he came from and always gave back to the community by tutoring and mentoring under-privileged youths. He touched so many lives in his short stay here on earth. He will truly be missed by all. Family and friends are invited to attend services in celebration of Rod's life. A viewing will be held on Mon., Sept. 24 from 4-8pm (Rosary at 6pm) at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. A funeral mass will be held on Tues., Sept 25, 10am at St. Rose's Church, 5961 Franklin Blvd. Burial immediately following at Sacramento Memorial Lawn. Please join the family at a reception held in his honor at the Hall located next to St. Rose's Church following the burial. Donations may be sent to the Memorial Scholarship Fund for Rodrigo (Rod) Rodriguez, Jr., c/o Sacramento State UC Davis MESA Center, Sac State University, Santa Clara Hall, 1204 6000 J St., Sacramento, CA 95819.

Larry and the boys now have 5.0's and when i see them, i wish YOU were with them...cruzin, weaving and yes even "ghost riding" (i know). We MISS YOU everyday. Most likely you don't remember who I am. I once had the pleasure of meeting Mom and Dad. I would like to just express my sympathy and the pain with the loss of your son. I met him a couple years ago through Frank and Roger. His smile is what enlightened me about him. He was such a happy and cheerful person. I remember he was wearing a green chucky watch from the rug rats. I thought that was cute. He had told me he got it at Burger King. :) I live in Stockton and Rod and I kept a long distance friendship. One day he offered to give my son a hair cut. I drove from Stockton to Sacramento. My son was about 3yrs old. He's 6yrs old now. It really amazed me the way he had his little barber shop in the back yard. I thought that was the cutest thing and the way he treated my son that day, I will never forget. I then met you, mom and dad, I've never forgot that. Georgina you appeared to me like the sweetest and most loving mother. All I can say is that I feel really greatful to have met your son and shared laughs and thoughts together. He was an amazing friend. I will never gorget him. NEVER...Our hearts go out to your family.

I know we've never met but our hearts feel your pain. On august 8,2006 we also lost a loved one to a seneless crime. My little brother Shanneel Singh was murdered by someone who was also out looking for someone else but choose to take our family member away. Dear Gina and Rod,
I think and pray for you guys always. I know it's so hard to go on with our own lives without OUR RODI but RODI would want us to. I miss RODI so much, my entire family does. When I think of RODI, tears ALWAYS flow down my cheek. He was and always will be a BLESSING. So understanding to his friends needs and always being there for them.

I remember for the 1st couple of days...I was waiting for someone to make it back to normal, for someone to say it wasnt you & you were still here. I called your voicemail everyday...to hear your voice...and sometimes I thought for a split second that you just might pick up. :( I cant believe that we have to live the rest of our lives w/out you. I was fortunate to meet Rod Jr years ago while he was playing flag football. I remember him as a good player on the field and a good teammate. I was happy to hear how well he was doing in school. I had the opportunity to coach Rod during his 8th grade at Cal Middle School. He was a great leader on our flag football team. Years ago I was blessed to coach Rod Jr at Cal Middle school While he played Flag football for the city of sacramento.
