My brother Faraji was taking history classes from Mr. Ron Charles and he would tell me of the many lessons he taught, on the attributes, accomplishment our people acheived, in the dire time's of yesterday and today. Due to my cursisity, I enroll in Mr. Charles history classes and received the knowledge of our people, that others kept hidden and now, I'm fully woke, to the true reality. Because of my brother's inencouragement and Mr. Ron Charles teachings, I'm will continue studying and sharing our true history.
Thank you, Mr. Ron Charles

Coming out of my shell, as it were, from the COVID pandemic, I discover that too many have gone. Now in learning that Professor Ron Charles has joined the ancestors without me (and others) having an opportunity to say "Thank you for introducing us to Africa and our beautiful selves" seems in some way unfair.

I could write a book about Ron Charles, and he inspired and challenged in me an intellectual curiosity that serves me to this day. He was smart, bold and at times a savage, who didn't suffer fools lightly, but if he liked you, he would share his wisdom with you.

My love of history and respect for my culture came from three sources: my family, Alex Haley's Roots and Ron Charles.

Thank you Ron!

Ron Charles was my favorite teacher at Sac City College. I was fed up with the lack of inclusion at the U.S. History classes taught at Hiram Johnson High School. Ron Charles was a breath of fresh air, pumping our heads full of the accomplishments of African Americans. He was so passionate about the subject, and he worked hard to encourage us to become activists and carry on the work. Great man!

My sympathy to Eunice and the Charles family. I knew Ron for many years as a fellow faculty member at Sacramento City College and had the greatest respect and admiration for him. Throughout his career he was a great mentor and role model for his students. Although we did not communicate much after his retirement, I thought of him often. I was proud to his friend. John

My condolence to the Charles family. I had Mr. Charles for an instructor at Sacramento City College in 1987. Mr. Charles was very amusing, and loaded with knowledge. I am sure he'll be missed by many.

Ron was my masonic mentor. He selflessly gave his time to my journey and learning. I will always be grateful for the sacrifices of this good man. He provided an excellent model for me and I have taken all of his lessons to heart.

Ron was one of the nicest guys I´ve ever met. He and Eunice were one of the first friends I met when I came to California 11 years ago, they became my family and I will always love both of them, Rest In Peace my dear friend, you fought a brave fight and God has given you peace.

Ron Charles was such a kind gentleman and a true Mason! He always greeted people with respect and dignity. Brother Charles and I crossed paths at various Masonic events. May his family know that his memory is a blessing to me and so many others.
"Soft and safe to thee, my brother, be thy resting place! Bright and glorious be thy rising from it!"
