Ronald M. Gilchrist, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Marian K. Gilchrist. A loving father he will be forever missed by his children Ronald H. Gilchrist, Colleen A. Stellwagen (Michael Burroughs) and Julie M. Gilchrist. He cherished his grandchildren, Monique Petteys, Jared Williams (Evan), Christina Wilson (Andre), Katie Gilchrist, Phillip Usrey (Sara) and Ellyse Poole (Clark). He leaves behind 10 great grandchildren, his caregiver, nieces, cousins, friends and his sweet grand dog Ethel who was his constant companion. Born in 1934 on Mother's Day he spent his life in Sacramento. He graduated from C. K. McClatchy H.S., attended Texas A&M and was employed by local supermarkets as a Meat Cutter for 40 plus years before retiring in 1996. In his retirement, he spent time with family, traveling, dining out with friends and playing pinochle. Ron had a talent for all things mechanical, he volunteered and served as a docent and board member for the Sacramento Auto Museum. All will forever remember his sweet disposition, unconditional love, friendly smile, ability to listen, sound advice and his gift to whistle in tune. Ron never liked being the center of attention in honoring him no open service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial be made to Sutter Hospice.

Uncle Ronnie was one to always make me feel welcome when I felt like an outsider. He and his wife were amazing souls . Sending my love to everyone whose world got a little darker because of this loss.
