Ronald Lowry
January 1, 1937 - March 8, 2021
Elk Grove, California - RONALD RALPH LOWRY, husband of Roberta Lynn (Coffield) Lowry since 10/31/64, father of Ronda Lynn Lowry, Julie Ree' Escudero (Paul), and Joel Justin Lowry (Tracey Lynn), as well as three grandchildren: Elizabeth and Grant Lowry and Anthony Escudero. Ronald was born to Desiree' and Ralph Lowry on January 1, 1937 in Oakland, CA and passed away at his home in the Sloughhouse area of Sacramento County on 03/08/21.
Ronald was preceded in passing by his mother and father and leaves behind his sister Carol Moore and brother-in-law, Max of Bellevue, NE.
Ronald was a registered architect working for various departments of the State of California for over a 35-year period, retiring in 1996. The primary and ending portion of his career was with the California Youth Authority where he served as Chief of the Facility Planning Division for 16 years. He continued private practice prior to and following his State retirement.
Additionally, Ronald was involved in his community. He served several years as a volunteer fireman & 2 years on the board of directors of the Sloughhouse Fire District. 29 years as director of the Omochumne-Hartnell Water District (28 years as Chairman), 14 years on the board of the Sloughhouse Resource Conservation District, 18 years on the Southeast Sacramento County Agricultural Water Authority (16 years as Chairman), and 16 years on the Sacramento Central Groundwater Authority as director. Ronald also served on many local planning committees and was developer and chairman (7 years) of Sheldon Hills Homeowner's Asso. and 6 years on the Cosumnes Area Planning Advisory Council.
Ronald loved hunting, photography, collecting family history (genealogy), and travel. While he couldn't interest any of his children in hunting, everyone enjoyed the extended RV trips and other outings that were undertaken each summer with the culmination being a 45-day tour of southern Europe and Northern Africa with the family. Ronald & Roberta, over the years, visited Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Spain, Greece, Portugal, China, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, the low countries of Europe, all Mexico states, all but one of the countries of Latin America, all but one of the countries of South America, several Canadian provenances and all of the states within the United States, including Alaska & Hawaii.
Ronald was a member of Elk's Lodge 2484 in Rancho Cordova for many years and a life member of the National Rifle Asso. Ronald will be interned in the 140-year-old family plot in the Old Sacramento City Cemetery on Broadway with his parents and a few more distant relatives.
