LEVIN, Roy Robert 'Bucky'
Of Elk Grove, passed away on Monday, December 10, after a short illness.
Buck Levin was born in Bremerton, Washington on March 8, 1931 to a Swedish immigrant father, the late Roy Jennings Nugent Levin, and American pioneer family mother, the late Florence Mary Fellows Levin.
After graduating from high school, Buck headed south to California where he attended San Jose State College and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. It was here that he met his wife of 56 years, Janice An Wilson. Upon his graduation, Buck joined the USAF where he rose to the rank of Captain, earning his pilot wings in both single engine fighter jets, and multi engine bombers. After his military duty Buck worked for the State of California Dept. of Finance, and attended McGeorge School of Law. He graduated Suma Cum Laude and went on to practice law in Sacramento, becoming a fixture in the capital city's legal community for the next 50 years. Buck was an active member of the California State Bar and Sacramento Trial Lawyers Associations until his death last week.
Bucky Levin was a talented athlete. He loved, respected, and excelled in all sports; eventually settling in as one of the top amateur golfers in Northern California as well as winning the club championship at Valley Hi Country Club numerous times, spanning four decades. Buck is survived by his wife Jan, sons Don (Linda), Bob (Liz) and Tom; grandchildren Spencer, Patrick, Jackson, and Danielle, all of Elk Grove. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Richard Levin, of Boulder Creek, CA. Along with his parents, his sister, Alice Jane Levin Begg, also of Bremerton Washington, preceded Buck in death.
Buck's family would like to thank the professional and caring nurses and doctors at the UCD Med Center for their compassion, care, and comfort.
A celebration of Roy 'Bucky' Levin's life will take place on Thursday, December 20 at 2:00 PM at Valley Hi Country Club.
