STRIPE, Roy Lee
March 3, 1925- December 3, 2010

Our Dad Roy passed away in Vacaville following a brief illness. He is survived a daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Doug Olson of Carmichael, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Les and Beckey Stripe of Sacramento CA; a daughter Lorenda Gail of Folsom CA; a granddaughter and husband, Tonja and Mike Tallent of Fair Oaks CA; a great-grandson Nathan Tallent of Fair Oaks CA; a sister Anna Belle Bowen of Vancouver, Washington, a brother Hiram Stripe of Orland CA; a brother Don Stripe of Winnemucca, Nevada; and a multitude of loving nieces and nephews. Roy is also survived by his long term friend and companion Nora Holdsworth of Fairfield CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Welch C. Stripe and Eula G. (Walck) Stripe and his twin brother Ray Stripe.
Roy was born in Shattuck Oklahoma, and moved to Orland in 1940. He graduated from Orland High School and worked in lumber and building materials for 22 years before building a career in insurance sales for 22 years in Chico. After retiring from the insurance industry Roy moved to the city of Fairfield and again worked in lumber and building materials locally at the Foster Lumber Yard from 1985 to 1992. Roy spent the last 18 years delivering automobiles for numerous local dealerships.
He was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.
Roy was a past member of the Rotary Club in Orland; the Kiwanis in Chico; and the Twin City Steppers Square Dance Club in Fairfield, CA.
As a longtime resident of Fairfield, Roy lobbied his ideas to the public regarding responsibility and frugality with weekly open letters to the editors of various newspapers. He was an active member of the Solano Tax Payers Association and served on many committees for the tax payers group. He participated regularly in City Council meetings studying and researching City Council agendas and actively contributing his ideas for the community's future. He did not just lobby for these ideas, but lived his life according to these values, making an effort to lookout for the best interest of his community and neighbors. He always attempted to leave his community and the country better for future generations.
He was a generous and monthly contributor to Mission Solano, Safequest Solano, Food Bank Contra Costa and Solano, and the Salvation Army.
