Sally Reed Obituary

Sally Katherine Reed passed away peacefully in August 2025 at the age of 83. She was born in December 1941, to the late Carmen and Keith Unash, coming into the world shortly after her father's untimely passing. When her mother remarried, she was lovingly adopted by the late Dr. William Ballou.

A long time native of Sacramento, she was a devoted wife to the late Thomas Reed, caring for him with great strength and compassion during his battle with MS. She was preceded in death by her daughter Paula and older brother Spencer.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Tom) and Debra (Shane) and son in-law Michael. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Alexis, Angus, and Reed. As an avid animal lover, she would want to recognize her grand-animals Ryver and Scooter who provided much enjoyment after the loss of her beloved dog, Lowella. Sally also leaves behind siblings Bill, Carolyn, Janet, Tom, and Theresa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sally was a long time employee of Sacramento Radiology where she excelled at putting patients at ease. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a passion for animals. She collected toys, particularly musical Christmas characters and kaleidoscopes. She found great joy in gardening, growing a variety of summer vegetables, strawberries, fuchsias, and succulents.

Sally was an inspiring role model whose warmth and kindness will be deeply missed.
