Sam Joseph Chilelli

1917 - 2018

Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday June 14, 2018 at the age of 101. Born on March 4, 1917 in Syracuse Nebraska to parents Antonio and Rose Chilelli. Sam was one of six siblings. Sam left Nebraska for California in the early 1940's. He worked various jobs before going to work with the Stolte Construction Co. before starting his own successful General Contracting company in 1953, finally retiring at the age of 84. It was in Sacramento he met his lifelong love and best friend Josephine and were married for 67 years. Together they raised their three children. Sam was a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, and friend to many and will be missed by all. Survivors include, daughter Pat Troughton (Doug) and son Michael (Cindi). Grandchildren Christopher and Michael Troughton (Megan), Angela Landgraf (Bryan), Anthony and Nicola Chilelli. Great Grand-children Sam and Charlie Troughton, Dominic and Giuliana Landgraf. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine and daughter Gloria. Reception and Celebration of Life will be held Monday June 25 at 12:00 pm at the St. Mary Cemetery and Funeral Center 6509 Fruitridge Road Sacramento. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sam's name to a charity of your choice.
