Sandra Freeburger Obituary

Sandra Lee Freeburger

April 5, 1949 - January 13, 2024

Sacramento, California - Sandra Lee (Dubay) Freeburger passed away peacefully with family at her side on January 13, 2024. The eldest of three sisters, Sandra was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C., daughter of Sgt. Charles J. and Jewel (McAmis) Dubay. She was a loved and loving, devoted mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She is survived by husband Tom Freeburger, daughter Angela Bailey and her wife Juliana Enciso, daughter Jennifer Bailey and grandson Joshua Bailey.

Sandra worked the majority of her adulthood in the legal field, as a legal secretary, legal assistant and legal analyst, initially in the private sector and later in state government service, primarily with the Office of the Attorney General.

Sandra was generous with her money supporting many worthy causes, but in particular those relating to veterans, children and animals. She was also very generous with her time, volunteering as treasurer and board member of Tahoe Park Youth Soccer Club, in various capacities for Western Service Workers Association and Capitol Public Radio, as union shop steward at work, as "playground lady" at Caleb Greenwood Elementary School and as a docent at the California State Railroad Museum, working as a crew member of the Sacramento Southern Railroad, the museum's excursion railroad.

Sandra will be greatly missed by her family and all who know her. There will be no services, but there will be a celebration of her life at some point in the not-too-near future.
