Sandra McFarlin Obituary

Sandra (Sandi) Louise (Malone) McFarlin was born March 1, 1942, 30 minutes ahead of her twin sister, Sharon, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. About a year later their sister Jackie was born. Her parents, Ellen and John Malone, decided to give up farming when the girls were young and moved to Loyalton, South Dakota; Holly, Colorado and later Yakima, Washington, where she graduated from West Valley High School in 1960. While working for the phone company, she attended Washington State University. She moved to Sacramento in 1965 with a friend, and met her husband, Packy McFarlin. They had two children, Kimberly and Patrick, and after they divorced, she met Jack Butcher in 1986, whom she has been together with ever since. Jack and Sandi loved to travel with the Moose Club, and pulled their fifth-wheel trailer through all lower 48 states (and traveled to all fifty states). They also went on several cruises and to Thailand. Sandi was a teacher for over 30 years with the Sacramento City Unified School District, spending most of her career at Bancroft Elementary School. She had many wonderful friends, and was very close to her family. She is survived by her son Patrick McFarlin; her daughter Kim and son-in-in-law Ryan Niemeyer, and their children Magdalena and Olen; her significant-other of 31 years, Jack Butcher; her twin sister Sharon Criddle of Yakima, Washington; and many wonderful friends, including Nancy Schramm. A celebration of life will be held on July 6th at Scott's Seafood from 4-6pm.
