Shane HERRENSCHMIDT

With family and loved ones at his side, Shane passed away at UC Davis Medical Center following a long battle with a very rare cancer (Sarcoma). His strength and determination to fight this disease remained strong until the day he passed. Shane is survived by his parents Martin Herrenschmidt and Linda Bloxham, his brother Martin Herrenschmidt II, his brother Al Herrenschmidt, and his sister and brother-in-law Ashley and Kenika Ng, and his niece and nephew Dennis and Viviana. Shane also leaves behind the greatest joys of his life: his children, Dylan and Caitlin. Shane attended Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, California and played High School Football and Baseball. Shortly after graduating High School Shane went on to Coach Football and Del Campo. Shane always felt this was his true calling in life. After coaching he moved on to work at California Backyard, and Ace Hardware. Shane was an old soul and was often called by his siblings an "old man". Preferring The Rolling Stones, and Andy Griffith over the modern interests. Shane had a passion for music and taught himself to play the guitar and piano. Shane always beat to the tune of his own drum. That is what made him so unique. With his dry wit, clever mind, and selfless attitude it is no wonder he was loved by so many. Shane was passionate about Sports and was a die hard Green Bay Packers / New York Mets fan. Shane was loyal, dependable, and always stood up for those in his life. That passion to take care of others is what would carry him through the next phase of his life. In 2004 Shane was diagnosed with a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (Sarcoma). At that time he and his longtime girlfriend Jessica Hammer decided to try for a miracle baby. His son Dylan Herrenschmidt was born October 24, 2005. This was his most proud moment in life, bringing that beautiful child into this world. After countless surgeries and Radiation/Chemotherapy Shane was forced to put his health as his main focus and continued to strive to beat this disease. Sarcoma's are a very rare and aggressive cancer, affecting a little less than 1% of all cancer patients. The lack of funding and resources created an uphill battle in terms of treatment. In 2013 Shane found out his cancer had started to metastasize. Shane would not give up and continued to fight until the day he died. Even when offered hospice care in September of 2015, he refused to give up and received chemo up until the week before he passed. Shane wanted to leave behind a message to his children and loved ones that you never give up. Shane's Funeral will be at East Lawn Mortuary 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento Ca 95841 November 7 at 2:00pm. The interment will be for immediate family. Reception is to follow at East Lawn at Saint Francis Community Hall. This is open to all family and friends. We have setup a college fund for Shane's children at Schools Federal Credit Union.
