Sophia Torres Obituary

El Dorado Hills, California - Sophia Ann Torres was born August 11th, 2008, to her devoted parents, Melanie and Omir Torres. She lived a joyful life surrounded by her big sister, Samantha Torres, grandparents, Patti and Bob Stutte and Evangelina and David Navarro, aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored her. She had a beat to her own drum approach to life and loved her family dearly. She was a fierce competitor with a vast community of friends and support. Sophia fought so hard, but ultimately was meant to go home to be with Jesus. She passed peacefully just after midnight on August 1st, where she was surrounded by love, music, singing in her ear, and tickles on her arms. Sophia was a larger-than-life person and because of her, we will love harder and look for joy and miracles all around us. She will still fill the room with her energy and enthusiasm, and we will honor her all the days of our lives. Thank you to all of you, this community has given us hope and strength.
Melanie and Omir welcome the community of family and friends to celebrate Sophia's life on either Friday, August 5th at Holy Trinity Church at 3 pm or Saturday August 6th at District Church at 1 pm in El Dorado Hills. Friday will include mass and a light reception to follow with a livestream option for those that cannot attend. Saturday at District Church will be a Celebration of Life followed by a reception and an opportunity to be together as a community to honor Sophia.

The immense loss you´ve suffered is one no parent should ever have to endure. There are truly no words that to offer that will take the pain away or make this better and I cannot imagine the incredible strength and faith it takes to endure this tragedy. I am so sincerely sorry for your loss... during this time I pray you remember the unbelievable mass of people this sweet girl has touched in her life and how remarkable and unique it really is. I have never known anyone before Sophia who has positively touched so many people´s lives... thousands of people have sought the lord because of this little one and that is nothing short of miraculous. I pray that your family find comfort in knowing how special she is and the immeasurable amount of grace and love she has sprinkled near and far and the understanding that one day you will all be reunited. Please also know that the sea of people Sophia has impacted are now continuing to pray- we are on our knees STILL... only now we are praying for you all as her family and friends! No one has stopped asking the lord for his mercy and strength during this time. She will be forever remembered and honored and the community remains in your corner, wishing we could do anything to help make this awful time somehow more bearable. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way.

Our grand daughters Whitney and Ella Johnson had kept us up on Sophia"s status. We have prayed for her God's ways are not our ways. He must have needed her more!!!! We lost our son, Blake Underwood 12 years ago, it's still not easy, but through our faith we've made it!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you, I know the pain, it takes time!!! Prayers for her sister, tell her to remember she's in a better place!!!! My son was younger then Blake, 15 at the time, it was hard, tell her the most important part is she is with God!!! Peace and blessings with your family, I feel your pain, but remember she's in paradise!!!!!!
