Stephen Robichaud Obituary

ROBICHAUD, Stephen F.
A caring man of deep conviction, Stephen Francis Robichaud was unexpectedly called to God from his life on earth on November 21, 2008 leaving behind a rich legacy of love. Born on August 28, 1952, Stephen was a life-long resident of the Sacramento area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis & Margaret Robichaud. Stephen is survived by a large but closely-bonded family; his son, Joshua Robichaud of Sacramento; son, Caleb/Tana & grandson, Titus Robichaud of Muncie, IN; the mother of his sons, Patty Robichaud of Sacramento; brother, Michael/Neoma Robichaud of Tucson, AZ; sister, Daphne/Mike Keating of Sacramento; sister, Charlene/Roberto Puentes of So Lake Tahoe; sister, Mary/Tom Davis of South Lake Tahoe; sister, Peggy Sargenti of Garden Valley; brother, Joe Robichaud of Sacramento; sister, Paula Robichaud of South Lake Tahoe; sister, Teresa/Jeff Babcock of Placerville; aunt, Daphne Norman of Australia; cousin, Keith Mullen of Tucson, AZ; cousin, Patrick Mullen of San Francisco; aunt, Norma and cousins, Brian, Barry & Brent Robichaud of Athol, MA. Stephen is also survived by ten nieces, four nephews, 15 great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael, Stephen and Joe were more than brothers; they were also the very best of friends. After graduating from Encina High School (1971), Stephen enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy (1971-74) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. After an honorable discharge, Stephen earned the title of Certified Fire Service and Forestry Tech at American River College. While employed by the US Forest Service he saved the life of a co-worker pinned beneath an overturned ATV. Later Stephen discovered a new career driving big rigs and his superior skills brought the respect of other drivers. Stephen had two passions, first was devotion to family and second was hunting. His family will attest that he would always be the first to lend a hand, no matter the need. Stephen encouraged his sons' endeavors, and spent countless hours with his brother Joe working on projects for family members, expecting nothing in return. As an expert archer, Stephen enjoyed hunting a variety of game in numerous Western states, and usually bagged his legal limit of deer each season. His Coastal Blacktail Deer of this year is currently being entered into the Pope & Young Record Book. A true outdoorsman at heart, Stephen relished the woods and mountains, while hunting, camping, fishing, and hiking. Stephen also pursued creative hobbies as an amateur photographer and artist, excelling at both. He enjoyed country line-dancing as well as sharing time with his long-time close friend, Donna Birdwell. He was the epitome of a good neighbor, a good friend and family man. Stephen never missed his family gatherings; now his grieving family will always miss him. Stephen was a skilled outdoorsman and avid bowhunter, a loving father and grandfather, brother and friend; we will hold you in our hearts and cherish you in our memory. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday 11/26/08 from 5-7pm at the Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 916-725-2109. Funeral services will be held on Sat. 11/29/08 at 1pm at the above chapel.

I was shocked and saddened at the untimely passing of Steve who was my daughter, Donna Birdwell's, loving companion over the past 13 years. Donna's entire family loved the many occasions we were all together to celebrate a birthday, holiday, or just visit as we loved Steve very much. My deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

We are so very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was certainly too young to die! Our heart goes out to Donna and all his close knit family. He was great fun on our dance team. What a terrible shock.
