Bertha Robichaud Obituary

Bertha M. Robichaud

Jaffrey, NH - Bertha Mary Robichaud, 97, died on January 10, 2026 at Mount Carmel Rehab & Nursing Center in Manchester, NH.

Bertha was born in Jaffrey, NH on November 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Fortuna and Adelosa (Coulombe) Bernier. She was a lifelong resident of Jaffrey but had lived at Mt. Carmel Rehab in Manchester for the past year. She attended Jaffrey schools and graduated from Conant High School in 1947. In 1943 she was Carnival Queen at the Jaffrey Winter Carnival. In 1950 she married Edmund Robichaud and they had three children, Diane, Edmund and Mary Anne.

Bertha had worked in the office of W.W. Cross & Co. for many years, later at Franklin Pierce College in the finance office, New Hampshire Ball Bearing in the finance office and Public Service of NH. She had many part time jobs while raising her children. Bertha loved sewing, cooking, yard sales, feeding and watching the birds, refinishing furniture, antiquing, gardening and reading. She also liked writing poetry. After her husband died, Bertha wrote a poem "Journey to Spring" which received an honorable mention in the International Library of Poetry who also published it under the title The Whirling Sea. In 2015 at age 86, she wrote a book A Moving Story, about her life, family, faith and friends. She loved to cook, especially for family and friends. They were always welcome, and her children's friends often stayed overnight. She enjoyed attending all their school functions from kindergarten through high school, being class mother and den mother for scouts, dance recitals, plays, etc.

Bertha brought meals to the homebound when she knew they were just home from the hospital or having a hard time. When in outreach, she drove people to appointments or to do errands. She always looked forward to spring to go out to work in her flower garden. She was called to pray for people who were on her church prayer line. They said she was their Prayer Warrior. Her strong Catholic faith was very important all through her life. Bertha was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish where she was very active. In earlier years she taught CCD, worked on the hospitality committee, parish council, liturgy board, outreach, RCIA and Cursillo. She was a member of Spiritual Renewal Services in the Diocese of Manchester, a charismatic prayer group leader for eighteen years and led bible studies for many years. She was an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist for forty years and brought the Eucharist to many homebound parishioners. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Bertha is survived by her daughters Diane Mazejka and her husband Steve of Rindge, Mary Anne LaBrie and her husband Donald of Goffstown, and son Edmund of Las Vegas; grandchildren Zachary Stone and wife Leah of Gardner, MA, Erin Ericson and husband Benjamin of Salem, NH, Trevor LaBrie of Manchester, CT, Nicholas LaBrie and wife Danielle of Goffstown, Alex Stone (deceased) and his wife Abbey of Amherst, NH; great grandchildren McKayla Stone of Amherst and Rowan Alex Ericson of Salem, NH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Edmund in 1998, her sister Simone Gautier and her husband Herve, her brother Emile who died at the age of two, her sister-in-law Gloria Wetherbee and her husband Kenneth, her grandson Alex Stone, her niece Susan Davis, her best friend Donna Ellis Holmes and many dear friends and family.

At Bertha's request, memorial contributions are asked to be made to a mobility training center for the visually impaired: Blindconnect - Angela's House, 5165 W. Sunset Road, Las Vegas, NV 89118 (702)631-9009 www.Blindconnect.org
