Lucille Lambert Obituary

Lucille (Lucy) I. Lambert

Jaffrey, NH - Lucille (Lucy) I. Lambert, 89, of Jaffrey, NH passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Jaffrey Rehabilitation & Nursing Center with her family by her side.

She was born on May 20, 1936, in West Brookfield, MA, the daughter of Bruce and Myrtle (Welch) DuBois. Raised in MA and NH she was a 1954 graduate of Conant High School. Lucy earned her RN from Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. As a devoted caregiver, she dedicated her professional life to nursing, working in various local hospitals, including MCH, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, and Cheshire Hospital.

On January 31, 1976, Lucy married Robert (Bob) Lambert. In 1995, Lucy and Bob moved to Florida where Lucy began a new chapter in her nursing career, dedicating ten years to Hospice of Citrus County.

At Hospice, Lucy practiced the nursing she loved most – providing personalized, one-on-one care. She offered compassion, comfort, and respect to terminally ill patients, ensuring they could pass with dignity. Lucy often shared that Hospice was as much about supporting the family as it was about the patient. She had a remarkable ability to listen, draw out concerns, and assist family members in facing the future and processing their grief. As one family member noted, she was "an anchor in rough seas."

Over the years, her family found numerous letters from grateful families expressing their heartfelt appreciation. One family wrote, "thank you seems so inadequate for all the caring and love you gave Jim; you came to us as a nurse and ended up a dear friend." Many letters conveyed that they would never forget her kindness, compassion, patience, and exceptional care, often referring to her simply as "an angel."

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lambert; her sisters, Priscilla Salmon and Louise Renauld; her brother, Bruce DuBois; her parents, Bruce and Myrtle DuBois; and her cherished miniature dachshund, Strudel.

She is survived by her children; Steven Bourgeois, Paul Bourgeois, and Rebecca (Michael) Newton; stepdaughter, Susan (Rolf) Hansen; grandchildren, Michael Bourgeois, Nicolas Bourgeois, Heather (Adam) David, Stephanie Bourgeois, Christopher Newton, Samantha Newton; and one great-grandchild.

In honor of Lucy's wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local Hospice organization.

I knew Lucy from working with her at Cheshire medical Center. She was a great advocate for nursing and a great mentor. We became close friends, visiting her at their home in Jaffrey and in Florida.
Rest in Peace Lucy, you left your mark with many patients and friends
