Steven Strand Obituary

Steven E. Strand
December 18, 1944 - November 28, 2020
Orangevale, California - Passed away November 28, 2020, at age 75.
Born December 18, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA., son of Richard E. Strand and Lillian J. (Christianson) Strand, both deceased.
Graduate of Folsom HS ('62) and American River College ('67), continued education at CSUS, taking night classes while working at Aerojet. Steve was employed at many Sacramento area companies, A-M Corp. (where he met wife Nancy), Bell Distributing, Proctor & Gamble (BR&I Div.), Janco Janitorial and Ralph's Distributing before beginning his career as a Distributor Rep with Panasonic Corp. for 20 years, where Steve enjoyed many years of business and personal relationships due to his personal integrity, a smile that could charm and his personal code of always doing right by his customers.
Steve loved sports and played baseball for several years with local leagues into his early twenties. An avid sports fan, he loved USC football, the Oakland Raiders, and the 49'ers. While hosting business associates in the Panasonic suite at Arco Stadium, he became a Kings fan. Enjoyed the A's and Giants baseball teams, too. He loved golf, playing frequently in his earlier years. Steve was also an ace bowler winning many a pot game in his youth at Folsom Bowl. But his biggest sports passion became soccer while sometimes coaching and always supporting, both son's competitive team's soccer play over many years. His love of soccer continued while watching grandchildren play in later years and watching professional soccer as well.
Steve was a storyteller and loved to regale (and embellish) stories of his crazy antics as a youth and beyond, to his boys and grandkids (and anyone else who would listen.) For all his tough talk, he was a man with a soft heart, always taking the side of the underdog.
Steve and Nancy traveled throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico, especially loving road trips and cruises and squeezed in a few golf outings along the way with friends and family. Steve enjoyed many lifelong friendships, some of which were developed through Nancy's membership in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.
Family was everything to Steve, he was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Steve was pre-deceased by brothers David and Philip (Beth) of OR. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; sons Jeffrey and James (Jennifer) of Orangevale; grandchildren Justin, Nicole, and Lily Ann. Brothers Richard (Sandy) of MN., and Paul of OR. Mother-in-Law, Betty Howe (Robert-deceased) of Orangevale, brothers-in-law, Brian Howe and Bruce Howe of Citrus Heights, and sister-in-law Kathy (Eric) Fischer of Salt Lake City, UT, and several nieces and nephews.
Outdoor service will take place Tuesday, December 15th at 2:00 pm, at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, CA. Friends, and family – please wear mask. In lieu of flowers, donations to charities of your choice would be a nice gesture in memory of Steve.
