Susan Catlett Obituary

Susan went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the afternoon of February 12, 2016 from ALS (Lou Gehrig 's disease). She blogged her ALS journey. She was 70 years old. She was born in Sacramento on March 11, 1945. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Cliff, married 45 years, and daughter Tricia Lewis, three grandsons and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Vivian Pfahl and her brother William Pfahl. She is survived by her father Glen Pfahl, sister Kathy Spitaleri and brother Glen Pfhal, Jr. Susan began her working career as a preschool teacher, spent some time as a Sacramento Sheriff Officer detective, and thirty years in education (Capital Christian School, Vacaville Christian Academy, ITT Technical Institute, and Heald College). Susan loved graduations and attended over 100 graduations from preschool through college. Susan requested a graduation to Heaven instead of memorial service. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Contributions in her memory can be made to her favorite charity Sierra Pregnancy & Health at www.SierraPH.org. Her graduation ceremony will be held at Centerpoint Church, 515 Sunrise Blvd., Roseville on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Catlett, may your weary body now rejoice in the arms of our Lord. I will always remember your smile. Even in your worst of times, you had a smile for every one.

To your family, may God bring you comfort as you go through this journey of losing your wife, mother, grandma, nana, and most of all the one who loved you unconditionally. May your memories of Susan and faith in Jesus sustain you.

Looking forward to seeing you again when Jesus returns.

Although I haven't seen Susan in many years, I've never forgotten her happy & joyful presence. Her advice to me as a 4 yr old in Sunday School and as a teenager at at Capitol Christian School has always been with me, and and always will. Her influence and impact on my life will never be forgotten.

Our relationship spanned at least 40 years, beginning at Bethel Temple in the 70's. In God's sovereign design, in a season when Larry and I were walking thru a dark valley, our paths crossed again. I was privileged to work for her at Heald College. It was a wonderful blessing. We pray God's peace and strength for Cliff and all the family.

Cliff and Trish, May God provide His Holy Spirit and peace as a comfort during this time. Susan was well respected and loved by everyone. I really enjoyed working with her when she was the high school principal and I was on the Education Advisory Committee. I can only imagine Heaven lighting up when God called her home. Blessings!

Susan touched many lives including mine. Her life was a role model. She taught the very first Love and Logic class I attended as a foster parent and now I teach it to foster adoptive parents. Susan will not be forgotten! Banetta Bacchi

I am glad she is no longer in any pain, will suffer no more and when we meet, she will have a body that will never see disease again! Thank you Mrs. Catlett for the love, compassion and tough love you showed this lost young boy when you met him in high school. For your example was a link for me to embrace Jesus' invitation to "come unto Him and find rest". Thank you, I am grateful.

Susan had a heart to help others every day that I knew her. She allowed her light to shine bright, even in the darkness of her ALS journey. Susan took on the challenge with dignity and showed how courageous she was every day! She was more than a friend, she was family and will be missed deeply. I'm thankful for her example, for her leadership, for the way she loved people and for the wisdom she shared. I was honored to know her and allow her to make a difference in my life for the better. She is healed in Jesus name!
