May 23, 1956 - March 25, 2023
Daly City, California - Susan Selix passed away peacefully last Saturday at the age of 66, after a two year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her passing marks the end of a life filled with creativity and a commitment to public service. Susan was born on May 23, 1956 to Calvin and Rosemary Reed in Sacramento. She earned a B.A. from CSU Chico and a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law. She is survived by her children Shae and Sydney, her sister Gail, their partners and families, and her loyal Australian Shepherd, Jessie. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bob and Bill. Susan's personality was larger than life, and she was known for her witty jokes, scary ghost stories, and inventive Halloween costumes. A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Saturday April 8th at 11am at Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community. Susan lived life in color and we ask that you skip traditional funeral attire for her celebration. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

To Susan's family:
I knew Susan through our children. I have such fond memories of her as enormously creative, fun and deeply dedicated to her children. I traveled with her to Costa Rica as chaperones of a 7th grade Spanish class trip and so enjoyed her company. Susan hosted several high school homecoming float making parties at her home, designing and frequently constructing the float with a little help from the kids and other parents! I had my first ever chocolate martini at a fundraiser at her home. And made political signs with her for some social justice rally. She really was bigger than life and I am saddened by her passing at such a young age. I hope her family can take comfort in her memory.
